Karabiner 98k, 1940 Borsigwalde – SOLD

Karabiner 98k, 8mm Mauser

The 243 code shows that this rifle was made by Mauser-Werke AG, Werk Borsigwalde in Berlin. It has a mismatched bolt, but the receiver and stock are matching with a force matched floor plate. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and some dirt in the grooves. The stock is in beautiful condition, very clean with bright laminate colors.

This rifle is obviously well traveled, since it has Iraqi “Jeem” property stamps on the barrel and the receiver. It doesn’t have any stamps that would indicate use by other countries, but many of these were sold by East Germany to Iraq. The swastikas have peen marks, so we suspect that it was captured by the Israeli forces later on, and eventually sold on the surplus market.

The 98k rifles are getting difficult to find in any condition, and this is a very representative example that would make a great collectible or shooter at a reasonable price!
