This variation was used on Colt Diamondback up to ca. 1977-1978. Finished with a tinted clear coat to replicate the original factory finish.
The original 1st generation grips came with either silver or gold medallions, and you can choose a color below.

I recently acquired this set and as always the service is white glove and the product impeccable. The fit and finish are outstanding, why anyone would buy any other reproduction set of grips is beyond me. Yes, the price may seem high but you get what you pay for, quality, great service and knowledge in selecting the right grips for your specific vintage gun…..the only draw back is that they don’t have grips for all my other Colts like my diamondback, detective specials or lawman…..but when they do I will be first in line……yeah you can call me a fanboy.

Correction…..they do have grips for my diamond back…..I meant I wish they had grips like they have for my diamondback for my other Colts like my DS, lawman, 357 and other vintage Colt wheel guns.

I ordered these grips for my Colt Diamond Back. I was expecting nice grips but I was not really expecting grips that were true Colt. You cannot tell the difference in what Colt used back in the day. The finish and checking is exact. These grips fit well, infact they are just a bit tight fit. There is no play or movement. I was really impressed with them. Also my order was shipped the same day i placed it and I ordered in the mid afternoon. I ordered on Thursday and had them in my hand on Saturday. If you are looking for true Colt Diamond Back grips that are true Colt, I don’t really consider them reproduction, this is it. I look forward to getting a set for my Python in the future.

I ordered these grips a year ago and they are absolutely fantastic. They are comfortable and have a tight fit. These grips made shooting my Diamondback much more comfortable.

I could not be more pleased with the Quality of these Diamondback wood grips. The attention to detail is superb, the craftsmanship is incredible, they look better than the original factory grips. I purchased a second set grips for my 4-inch Python and another set for my Diamondback. That is how much I liked them and I am very picky. The Diamondback grips are just as nice and they fit perfect just like the Python grips that I previously purchased.

My father in law is the original owner of a 1970 Diamondback, and a 1964 Python, both of which may have been fired 25 times each, if that. When he did shoot them the very few times, he has small hands, and actually hand sanded the factory checkering off of the original grips and refinished them so they would better fit his hands.
After only firing them a very few times (also still have the original boxes of 22 and 357 ammo) he put the pistols in glass top display boxes, where they have been for decades, hidden away in his closet.
So, after seeing the BEAUTIFUL pair of Colt’s, I decided to find, and surprise him with some original grips to put the guns back into factory condition, and after much research and going to many gun shows trying to find original Colt grips, this is where Olof and his company Deer Hollow comes in to play.
After reading all of the 5 star reviews, I decided to order new grips for both of the Colt’s, received the Diamondback grips yesterday, and just installed them.
I have to say, the craftsmanship, fit, and finish is second to none! I can now truly see why everyone rates 5 stars, and I would give more if possible, not to mention that my 83 year old father in law got a tear in his eye when he saw the new grips on his little beauty! Can’t wait for the Python grips to become available again so I can order those for him as well!
If you are looking for beautiful grips for your vintage Colt, you will not find better than Olof and Deer Hollow! The man is a true craftsman! Well worth every dollar!

BEAUTIFUL GRIPS. I purchased this set of Colt Diamondback Gen1 grips as replacements for the original (still mint) Colt grips. Why? Because this Colt 2½ Diamondback is actually going to be CARRIED and the Diamondback replica Deer Hollow grips were exactly what I was hoping for — in other words, they “fill” the hand better than the original, they improve handling and stability, and they still allow the use of an HKS or Safariland speedloader. Perhaps not quite as “concealable” as the original, but if that ever becomes an issue I can always revert to the original grips.
The Deer Hollow grips are beautiful and look like the original Colt Gen1 grips (just slightly larger). They installed perfectly with no fitting required. Win-win all around. Thanks, Deer Hollow.
